(Portland, Oregon) – A wide variety of warnings and advisories have been issued for the coastal regions of Oregon and Washington through Monday. The National Weather Service (NWS) offices have issued alerts for every sector of the Oregon coast and Washington coast. 70 mph hour gusts are possible along the much of the coastline, with the southern Oregon coast getting more of it than areas farther north. Among the advisories and warnings:
High surf advisories are in effect from the Washington coast down through the central Oregon coast through Sunday. Waves up to 28 feet in some areas will be hitting the shorelines, causing sizable beach hazards from La Push, Washington, down through Florence, Oregon.
High wind warnings have lit up the entire region, mostly in effect through late tonight. Gusts of over 80 mph have already been recorded in some areas, while the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport saw at least one gust over 60 mph.
The warnings from the NWS expire at various times Saturday night, depending on the area. However, the warnings are longer for the southern Oregon coast, where a lull in the storm will happen on Sunday and then pick up again through Monday.
