Some Breaks for Travelers at Portland Airport For Spring Break
Published 03/17/2011

(Portland, Oregon) – Portland International Airport is offering some price breaks for spring break travelers on parking, a giveaway contest, as well as a little bit of entertainment. And it’s offering a few tips on getting through your airport experience a little quicker.
Portland International Airport is expecting about four percent more travelers this spring break than last year, so it’s advising the public to expect busy conditions. Highest travel days are March 18, 21, 24 and 25, according to predictions.
“PDX will serve approximately 40,000 travelers each day, up from the normal daily average of 35,000 for this time of year,” the airport said in a press release.
For the entertainment of travelers, the airport is hosting PDX Spring Fling and a prize drawing from Travel Oregon. There are dozens of performances scheduled inside the airport by local musicians until April 24. Numerous vendors inside the facility will be hosting specials, and the state’s tourism arm is giving away a prize package for two that includes a getaway to Timberline Lodge. More at www.pdx.com on how to enter.
Parking at the airport garage is getting a discount. From March 17 to April 3, it’s down $2 to $14 a day. Airport authorities cite less business travel during this time and the ability to introduce the public to the new garage facility that opened last year.
Short term parking is still highly encouraged ($3 per hour) when picking up guests. This alleviates some congestion on terminal roadways.
PDX urges travelers to plan ahead. Review general travel tips and flight schedules before you leave home, all of which are on the airport’s website, www.pdx.com.
