New Year's Eve in Oregon

Published 12/26/2009

(Portland, Oregon) – It’s a night of massive celebrations only rivaled by Halloween, where music, food, laughter and often drink are the focus.

From Pendleton to Portland, McMinnville to Medford, and even Oregon’s coast, there’s much to do about the state.

One of the more interesting and unusual celebrations takes place in Manzanita, on the north coast, where locals erupt in their own pre-internet version of a flash gathering. At midnight, people simply appear for an impromptu parade that spotlights the tiny town’s kooky slant on the world. But there’s more about this one at the full list of Oregon coast events.

A sampling of the rest of the state follows.

To do more research on events in an area you’re heading to, see the list of Oregon media, then choose a media organization in the area you wish to visit. These sites sometimes have more info on happenings in that city, although the only seriously complete listings of special dinners or music/bar events tend to be compiled for the Portland area.
