Oregon Travel Fun: Festival of Bugs, and a Festival of Wine on Mount Hood
Published 08/14/2010
(Welches, Oregon) – Fall will bring a massive art, wine and music festival to the tourism hot spot of Mount Hood, while a festival full of bugs will invade Beaverton at the end of August.
An unusual way to spend a Saturday in the Beaverton area happens August 28 with Bug Fest, a day that highlights the tiny creatures like beetles, butterflies, bees, slugs and spiders. These are tiny creatures that work hard to help recycle fallen trees, pollinate flowers, and provide food for larger animals. Live bugs, interactive displays, butterfly crafts, games and entertainment offer fun for the entire family. This year's bug lab will focus on butterflies. 9 a.m – 5 p.m., August 28, at Nature Park Interpretive Center. 15655 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton, Oregon. 503-629-6450.
The Resort at The Mountain (The Resort), a premier golf, spa and ski destination located on the western slope of Mt. Hood, will host the 21st Annual Holiday Art, Wine & Music Festival coming to The Resort, November 13-14.
“We welcome wine lovers from all over to come savor selections from some of the Northwest’s premiere vintners,” said Frank Casarez, general manager of The Resort. “It’s a privilege to host this annual celebration of the region’s arts and culture.”
The Holiday Art, Wine & Music Festival features art, music by regional musicians and wine from 15 wineries throughout the Northwest presenting more than 50 wines. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Oregon Humane Society.
For guests looking to enjoy both days of the festival, The Resort is offering the Holiday Art, Wine & Music Festival package, which includes two Wine Tasting Passports good for the whole weekend, two commemorative glasses and overnight accommodations at The Resort.
