(Portland, Oregon) - Local mixologists will once again bring their cocktail skills and savvy to a shaker-to-shaker showdown at the Jupiter Hotel’s DreamTENT for the second annual Iron Bartender competition. The event benefits the Children’s Relief Nursery and will be held Thursday, January 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and include tastes of each competing cocktail, appetizers, live music and a raffle. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Children’s Relief Nursery at 503-283-4776 or online at www.crn4kids.org.
Lucy Brennan, owner of Mint and 820, Drew Carney from KGW-TV, and Karen Foley from Imbibe Magazine will serve as the evening’s “celebrity judges,” putting the competition through its paces in a challenging mix-off that includes a secret ingredient revealed the night of the event. Event guests play a role in the fun by sampling the creations and casting their votes for the “People’s Choice” award.
Local mixologists include Neil Kopplin of Clyde Common, Dave Shenaut of Teardrop Lounge, Jacob Grier of Carlyle Restaurant and Evan Zimmerman of Laurelhurst Market. The winning cocktail recipe will be featured at the Children’s Relief Nursery’s signature fundraising event, Portland’s Original Iron Chef held annually each Spring.
“We’re looking forward to a fun evening and the chance to make new friends and build new supporters,” said Chris Otis, Children’s Relief Nursery’s executive director. ” We want to thank the Jupiter Hotel for hosting us a second year and to all our participants and sponsors.”
“This event is perfect for our DreamTENT, a lofty urban event space in our covered courtyard where guests and visitors can indulge in urban life,” said co-owner Tod Breslau. “We love hosting this event and introducing young professionals to a charity that helps families in crisis in our community.”
The evening’s sponsors include: Knowledge Learning Center, Weir Cyclery and the Stewart Foundation. Partners in the event: Doug Fir Lounge, Bon Appetite Catering, House Spirits Distillery and Oregon Bartender’s Guild.
