Wild Adventures in Nicaragua Announced

Published 02/21/2010

(Seattle, Washington) - Travelers seeking an adventure in 2010 don't have to look far. Wildland Adventures, which National Geographic called the "Number One Best Adventure Travel Company on Earth," has lined up two unique itineraries to Nicaragua in 2010. This Central American country is a portal to adventures as well as unforgettable cultural experiences. On Wildland’s new Nicaragua Family Vacation and Nicaragua Adventure Tour, their travel experts ensure guests experience a perfect combination of exciting activities and relaxation.

The nine-day Nicaragua Family Vacation explores the historic colonial city of Granada. Travelers make this their home base while exploring the outlying jungles of the nearby Mombacho Volcano. Families can take a heart-racing canopy tour through the cloud forest and boat or kayak through the nearby islets in Lake Nicaragua. Travelers have the chance to meet local families and get a taste of everyday life in Nicaragua. There will also be plenty of opportunities to visit artisan markets and learn about Wildland’s many efforts to maintain sustainable tourism in Central America. The last few days of the trip are spent in the gorgeous luxurious eco-lodge Morgan’s Rock Hacienda, near the coastal town of San Juan del Sur.

The Nicaragua Adventure Tour offers a little something extra for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Also nine days in length, the first half of the tour is based from one of the oldest colonial cities in Central America -Leon. Spend a day biking to Isla Juan Venado National Park and kayak through the wetland reserve, observing the rich biodiversity in the landscape and wildlife. Guests will be able to view nesting leather-back turtles August through December. Adventurers will also take in stunning views from up high after hiking a volcano and zipline through a jungle canopy. At the conclusion of the tour, recharge and relax at the boutique beach-front Hotel Piedras y Olas, on Nicaragua’s southern Pacific Coast.

Wildland Adventures is an acclaimed Central American travel specialist with award-winning itineraries in Costa Rica and Belize. Their new Nicaragua tours offer the same focus on sustainable tourism and authentic cultural exploration while striving to protect natural environments, preserve cultural heritage and bring direct economic benefits to local communities. Their travel programs support local conservation organizations and community development project in all their destinations.

Departure dates are scheduled throughout 2010. Prices start between $2,275 and $2,850. For more information or full itineraries of Wildland Adventure’s new Nicaragua itineraries, visit www.wildland.com or call Nancy Harrison at 970-568-7423.
