Upscale Oregon Destinations Celebrate in Wine Country, Mount Hood

Youngberg Hill Vineyards and Inn in Oregon wine country celebrates 20 years

(Welches, Oregon) – Big things are popping up at two fiercely beautiful Oregon resort destinations. One is a major award for a resort at the bottom of Mount Hood, and an Oregon wine country favorite celebrates 20 years of culinary and vino fireworks.

The Resort at The Mountain (The Resort) recently won Smart Meetings magazine’s 2009 Platinum Choice Award.  The award recognizes excellence in service and amenities among meeting facilities in the Western Region, comprised of 14 western states, Western Canada and Mexico.

Resort at the Mountain is a conference, golf, spa and ski resort located on the western slope of Mt. Hood.

“It is an honor to receive Smart Meetings’ Platinum Choice Award,” said Frank Casarez, general manager of The Resort. “To be acknowledged by meeting planners validates our decision to invest $14 million over the past two years and put The Resort at The Mountain back on the meetings map.”

Casarez said Smart Meetings’ 2009 Platinum Choice Award winners must meet strict industry standards for overall guest experience, including ambience, amenities, facility quality, guest services, meeting space, restaurant and dining facilities, staff attitude, technical support and recreational activities.

Winners are voted on by readers with first-hand experience and additional input is provided by the publication’s editors and industry leaders. Only 100 winners are selected from thousands of eligible venues.

The Resort and its fellow honorees will be featured in the December issue of the magazine, both in print and on the magazine’s website.

The Resort at The Mountain is located at 68010 E. Fairway Avenue in Welches, Oregon, at the western base of Mt. Hood. The Resort offers activities including golf, spa, skiing, fly fishing, croquet and tennis along with 18,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space.

The Resort’s high-end accommodations and public areas – geared towards business meetings, social events and leisure travelers - recently completed $14 million in renovations and expansion. For reservations, call toll-free (877) 439-6774.  Contact The Resort at The Mountain directly at (503) 622-3101 or visit http://www.TheResort.com.
