New Calgary Hotel Opens February 15

(Calgary, Alberta) - Canada's boutique-hotel group, the family-led Groupe Germain, has extended its unique brand of hospitality nationally, to Western Canada, as the 143-room Hôtel Le Germain Calgary opens February 15.
Hôtel Le Germain Calgary is situated at the centre of one of Canada’s most sophisticated, vibrant cities. Located at 9th Avenue and Centre Street, Hôtel Le Germain Calgary is steps away from the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts, the Glenbow Museum, the Calgary Tower, the TELUS Convention Centre, Olympic Plaza and the popular Stephen Avenue pedestrian walk where you can find nine major shopping centers and department stores, retro cinemas, some of Calgary's finest restaurants, pubs, cafés and bars, as well as an eclectic mix of boutiques and galleries.
Hôtel Le Germain Calgary is the company’s first development in Western Canada, featuring the 143-room boutique-hotel, 40 luxury condominiums (which all sold in one day) and an office tower.
At Hôtel Le Germain Calgary, they say: “a room is not a hotel room; it is a guest room, a private sanctuary enveloped in natural light with generous, operable windows and warm wood accents.” Le Germain guest rooms are elegantly designed, yet never at the expense of warmth and comfort.
Naturally lit spa-like bathrooms feature a spacious rainfall shower, with imported Italian micro-tile in soothing neutral tones, and a sensual peek-a-boo window of subtle frosted glass.
Goose-down duvets, feather pillows and comfy chairs will help make you feel pampered, relaxed and rejuvenated. Hôtel Le Germain Calgary rooms feature complimentary high speed and wireless Internet access as well as large work tables with ceiling mounted Artemide lamps, natural light and ergonomic chairs that make it just as easy to be productive as it is to relax, in style.
Guestrooms come with a variety of amenities, which include:
A Superior Room is either 425 sq. ft. with a queen-size bed or 450 sq. ft. with a king-size bed or two queen beds and a 42-inch HDTV flat screen.
A Deluxe Room is 500 sq. ft. with a king-size bed and 42-inch HDTV flat screen and a comfy sitting area.
A Luxury Room is 650 sq. ft. with a king-size bed and 42-inch HDTV flat-screen TV in a comfy sitting area as well as a large bathroom with an oversized tub.
Apartment Suites are 1,110 sq. ft. with a King-size bed, living room, dining room, powder room and wet bar as well as a large bathroom with an oversized tub.
Adjoining rooms are available.
Rates: superior guestrooms are available from $279 per night, plus taxes, based on double occupancy.
Special rates are available during opening months.
Hôtel Le Germain Calgary is an architectural expression of the signature style of Groupe Germain. The hotel rooms are designed as if contained in a wooden treasure chest, entirely clad in warm, natural wood and suspended above a dramatic 25-foot glass wall that fills the lounge and front desk area with radiant natural light.
This exposure to the urban environment adds a modern vitality to the spacious, inviting lobby area. The hotel interiors celebrate a return to natural materials, including volcanic stone floors, wood paneling, soft leathers and solid granite.
Le Germain Calgary is the company’s first combined boutique-hotel, office tower and residence complex. Within the vitality of this multi-use format, however, Groupe Germain has carefully preserved the intimacy and boutique flavour by limiting the number of guest rooms to just 143.
The design and project architect was Lemay Michaud Architecture Design, Montreal.
A spokesman for the Groupe Germain said the company’s philosophy is all about authentic elegance. “At Le Germain Boutique-hotels, the goal is to create a warm, comfortable ambiance, combined with attentive, personalized service that is always accommodating, yet never intrusive,” the company said in a press release. “Le Germain Calgary is also proudly Green. The entire development was engineered and constructed to incorporate several state-of-the-art features designed to conserve energy and preserve our environment.”
